Biography

Tim Ross is an award-winning comedian, writer, broadcaster and a self-proclaimed design nerd. Renowned for the ABC TV series Streets of Your Town (2016) as well as his live shows Man About the House and Motel, Tim has curated a number of architecture and design exhibitions including The Mid Century Project, Design Nation and The Practical Outsider. He is a passionate advocate for important issues in Australian architecture such as the Save Our Sirius campaign and writes on architecture for leading local and international publications. Tim has published three books: Mum Had a Kingswood 2010, The Rumpus Room 2017 (now in its third print run) and Motel: Images of Australia on Holidays 2019.

Tim’s latest awards and accolades include the 2014 National Trust Heritage Award for Man About the House, the 2017 Australian Writers Guild Award for Best Documentary for Streets of Your Town, the 2018 National Trust Heritage Award for Advocacy and the 2019 National President’s Prize from the Australian Institute of Architects. For 2020, Tim is an integral part of the creative team for the Australian exhibition at the Venice Architecture Biennale.
