Info

Open House invites you to tour three inspiring architecturally designed homes.

Liam Proberts' new family home engages strongly with its landscape, context and climate, while positively contributing to the well-established housing stock of the suburb. From the street, the house creates a form and expression that, while respectful and familiar, is stridently new in abstracting the forms of its neighbours.

Visit Michael Rayner’s (Blight Rayner) Hill End House. Designed to showcase an extensive art collection, Michael’s family home is a complex manipulation of shadow and light and explores the notion of ruin as a means of embedding the house in its site.

Caroline Stalker (Archipelago) and Bruce Carrick’s (LookOut Design) home, the Garden Room House, is a place of respite, retreat, restoration and calm. Their recent redesign transforms a dark internalized cottage into a light-filled  and garden-filled space, conferring all the restorative, health and sustainability benefits of working with Brisbane's extraordinary climate and place.

Registration
The tour is $55 per person and includes bus travel between the properties. Registrations are essential via Eventbrite. All profits will assist Brisbane Open House to present its signature Open House weekend in October.

Parking
We recommend using public transport to and from the Brickworks Design Studio as parking is limited in the James Street Precinct.
