Info
Waste Terrazzo is an innovative concrete surface formed entirely from Australian construction and demolition waste. By hacking into the city's construction cycle, Five Mile Radius has created Australia’s only concrete surface made entirely from waste. Production of concrete accounts for over 8% of worldwide carbon emissions, it is the second most consumed resource in the world, after water. We need to use every drop!
Using the workshop facilities at The Edge, Five Mile will lead a two-part, hands-on course where participants will design and make a small Waste Terrazzo artefact of their own to take home. Participants will be guided through a condensed version of Five Mile's process: creating moulds, adding smashed construction materials, pouring concrete, grinding, polishing and sealing their own piece.
Five Mile Radius is a Brisbane-based design studio exploring Australia's construction materials. It creates projects, products and educational content that imagine a world built on ethically sourced material resources.
