Leah Lang

Queensland Government Architect

Leah Lang is an experienced strategic design advisor and award-winning registered architect (FRAIA). She is the current Queensland government architect; along with her office, she advises government on housing, Olympics, health and economic development projects. She previously served as city architect for the Gold Coast, which is Australia’s sixth-largest city and the nation’s second-largest local government authority. There, Leah oversaw city-wide design and planning policy and implementation, including the HOTA Cultural precinct and final stages of the 2018 Commonwealth Games venues.

With over 25 years of experience, Leah is undaunted by large-scale, complex and ambitious projects. Among her greatest strengths is her ability to unify disparate stakeholders and bring cohesion to competing interests for innovative city-shaping. Leah’s leadership and expertise have led to appointments to multiple high-profile design boards, panels and juries. She leverages all of these roles to advocate for and facilitate high-quality, place-responsive design and heritage outcomes.
