Cyanotype is a 170-year-old photographic printing process that produces distinctive blue and blue-green prints. First used in 1843 to create an album of algae specimens, it went on to be used in the creation of building plans – hence the name "blueprint." The process uses the sun to create a reaction on primed paper and fabrics.
In this workshop, you will work with facilitators to create a series of cyanotype prints to display in your home or give away.
You will use Queensland native plant specimens as well as architectural prints and photos from the John Oxley collection to create beautiful works of art. This workshop is being run as part of the Asia Pacific Architecture Festival and the Brisbane City Council Outdoor Gallery. The print that you create in the workshop could be selected to be exhibited in the Outdoor Gallery as part of the Make Visible exhibition opening in October 2023.
