Info

Realm Studios’ Tom Rivard and JDA Co.’s Sam Bowstead will lead a powerful and thought-provoking discussion on climate adaptation and the role of architects, academics and other practitioners in designing for disaster at a special Asia Pacific Architecture Festival event on 10 June at QUT.

The panel will include:

Riley DeJong (engineer, Bligh Tanner)

Graham Legerton (architect and principal, Hayball)

Libby Ba-Pe (architect and associate, JDA Co.)

Dan Nyandega (lecturer in landscape architecture, QUT),

The panel discussion will explore how we can better respond to climate catastrophes beyond “business-as-usual” in a polycrisis environment – one of overlapping environmental, social and economic crises. What’s at stake for Brisbane, and the rest of Australia, if climate inaction continues? How can Brisbane better build its resilience against major flooding in the wake of the 2022 Queensland floods? How can architects break down the barriers and leverage the opportunities of climate adaptation for the existential benefit of their communities?

Curated by JDA Co. and Realm Studios.

Supported by Queensland University of Technology.
